![]() Week 5 finds only one undefeated team left in the league. The standings are looking a little strange, as the scheduling GOD takes his toll on teams. Several of the non-elite teams have out scored at least one elite team. This week when you are considering your lineup, please remember that the "RAVENS, CHIEFS & BUCCANEERS" are off this week. In other league news, I've heard no counter-complaints about the elimination the Hot Free-Agent section. So it will stay eliminated. I've added weekly previews to the web site up and going. Point your favorite browser (Netscape works better than MS-IE) to http://www.50megs.com/users2/ksmalley. Right now, I have almost all the sections of the notes up in some (more readable) format or another. I will be working to get the remaining sections of the notes up in a web friendly format. I will try to have preliminary results up on the web by Monday afternoon each week. I still have some more of my own ideas for stuff to go on the Web, but I am also willing to listen to other ideas. Like the league itself, this is you web site too, not just mine - so let's all try to make it look good. The "Interactive Chatterbox" is just another way to keep the league in touch with other. I will be posting the Notes Chatterbox there, unfortunately Norm, the only regular ChatterBox participant - does not visit the web site so he probably won't see your replies. Getting your noted by E-Mail is cheaper and quicker, I don't understand why there isn't more interest in it. Oh well.Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week. This week M. Takers and Quiet Storm will face-off in a battle for a Elite spot as the loser will definitely drop below the line. The Bulldogs will try to hold on to their elite spot against the Black Revenge who are surprisingly 1-4. The Mac Attack hope to parlay their high point total and a "W" this week against the Jelly Beans to grab a toe-hold above the Elite Line. The Hammer Heads will try to knock the Dream Team of their high-horse. The Sharks are hoping for a "W" against the defending champion Black & Blue Attack (1-4) and a little help so they can grab back a share of 1st place. Spock was 4-5 this week making him 10-15 (67%) on the season and he re-gains top billing. Norm was 3-5 this week making him 9-15 (60%) on the season and his lines appear below: MT -4 QS (90) DT -11 HH (101) In reality all but one of the games were more or less decided on Sunday. One game was a final. In one game the only players left on Monday were in the winning team's starting lineup. In another 2 games, the winning team had a pretty good lead going into Monday night. And only one game was up in the air. |
The M. Takers wrapped up their "W" on Sunday against the Bull Dogs. The Takers came close to getting a BYE as the Bull Dogs coaching staff reminded me of the "Kotite 2-pt conversion Committee". First they replaced Watters on a bye with Skip Hicks (also on the bye). Personally, If I am going to take a 0 at running back (and no elite team should!!!), I'd rather take a Watters 0 over a Hicks 0. They also almost left Westbrook (on the bye) in the lineup. Beldose alone, was enough to wrap up the "W" for the Takers against the "Young and Confused" Bull Dogs. The Sharks got back on the winning track against their "Cedar Lane" rival Jelly Beans. The Sharks have never been below the Elite Line after a full season and another 5 weeks. The Beans are off to a poor start, but I think they will be OK if Brad Johnson can stay healthy. The Garcia move did not work, but at least it was the right thing to do "on paper". Of course, they could have just taken a 0 at QB. The Quiet Storm notched their 3rd "W" in a row against the Black Revenge in a battle of former partners. The Storm has caught a little "lightning in a bottle" with Kurt Warner. Just as everybody was saying he could not keep it up at this pace, he turned it up another notch. The Revenge, Manning and Elam did not get enough support from the rest of the team. The Dream Team put up over 50 pts. again and notched their 5th "W" against the Mac Attack. The WR combo of Freeman and Bruce pulled the weight this week. The Mac Attack put up 48 and lost again. Chris & Shawn you must have really gotten the Scheduling GOD mad. The "Game of the Week" goes to the contest between the Hammer Heads and the Black & Blue Attack. I usually don't bestow "GOW" honors to games between 1-3 teams, but this one is an exception. In a battle for survival the Hammer Heads, McCardell and a 7pt. lead managed to hold off the Attack, C-Mart and the JAGUARS. The Heads won despite a 0 from recently signed Grbac. The Black & Blue was led by the DOLPHIN double-bubble, but got little help elsewhere. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
