SPOCK'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 16 finds all the Elite spots pretty much secure sort of. The Quiet Storm with their large point lead have all but locked up the last Elite spot. Where teams will finish is up in the air though. The Bulldogs can do no worse than 3rd. The Mac Attack can probably not do any worse than 3rd, unless the Storm sets a scoring record. The Dream Team can win the championship or fall to 4th place. The Storm can probably do no better than 3rd. There is a bye every week, so at least one team is off. There are no early games. If you are wondering why I'm not naming names, read last week's notes or ask me.

In other league news, there isn't much new on the web and probably won't be until next year. I have a bunch of ideas to work on the off-season, when I have a bit more time. I hope everybody had a very Merry Christmas. Also, have a safe and happy New Year. Point your favorite browser to http://www.50megs.com/users2/ksmalley. Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week.

This week we repeat the schedule for week 8. The Jelly Beans will try to sweep the season series against the M. Takers. The consolation prizes will be foremost in the mind of both of these teams. The Mac Attack will try to repeat their mid-season victory against the Hammer Heads and keep their "getting stronger every week" title hopes alive. The Heads got their winning streak started just a tad too late. The Storm will try to repeat their early season win against the Sharks and improve their standings position. The Sharks will finish out of the Elite this year, ending their perfect career. The Dream Team and Bulldogs square off in a game with title implications. If the Dogs win, they win the Championship. If the Dream team wins and thew Mac Attack loses the Dream Team wins the championship. The Black & Blue Attack will try to avenge their loss to the Black Revenge in the mid-season version of the "Black Bowl". The Attack will not three-peat as champion, but their late season run has returned them to respectability.

Spock was 3-5 this week making him 43-70 (61%) on the season and he retains top billing. Spock has won the season battle also. Norm was 3-5 this week making him 35-70 (50%) on the season and his lines appear below:

   MT  -3 JB (90)     DT   -6 BD (99)
   HH  -7 MA (98)     BR   -1 BB (88)
    S  -3 QS (92)

Three games were final after Sunday. In one game, the winning team was the only team with Monday players. In the final game, the losing team id not have much of a chance going into Monday, but any chance is better than no chance.

The M. Takers played spoiler against the Dream Team. The Storm had pretty much eliminated the Takers from the Elite when the Taker players came alive. The RAMS & Terry Allen scored late TD's, but the killer score came when Robert Smith broke off a 70 yard run with some pretty shoddy tackling at the end of the play. The essentially 26-point play put Dream Team in serious danger. The Dream Team shook up the lineup a bit to get out of their funk, but it did no good. The Dream Team after spending a large portion of the year in 1st place is in serious danger of finishing in 4th.

The Jelly Beans, lead by Faulk & Johnson, put up big points against the Black Revenge. The same story for the Revenge, no defense, as they once again gave up over 60 pts. The Revenge has a chance at giving up 1,000 pts. on the year, which is harder than scoring 1,000 pts. on the year and a lot less desirable.

The Hammer Heads, after finally settling on a QB, handed the Sharks another loss. The Sharks faded a lot earlier this year and this time it cost them an Elite spot. The Heads came on strong late, but it was too late. The Heads were led by Beuerlein and Gary. The Heads would probably go undefeated if all their players, played on Saturday.

The Quiet Storm pretty much clinched a Elite spot and stopped the Bull Dogs improbable march to the Title. The Storm was led by FA of the year Kurt Warner. In a year where there were a lot of great free-agent pickups (RAMS, Jeffers, Kev. Johnson, Vanderjagt Connell, Crowell-to name a few), none compares to King Warner. The Dogs can still wrap up the title with a "W" over Dad. Speaking of the father-son relationship in this last game, Norm, can't you ground your sons if they don't put in their worse lineup possible.

The "Game of the Week" goes to the contest between the Mac Attack and Black & Blue Attack. In the 2nd edition of the "Attack" bowl, the Mac Attack built up large lead going into Monday night and still had Mare, J.J. and the DOLPHINS. The Black & Blue still had the Martin brothers. The Mac Attack prevailed mainly due to large games by James and Jeffers. The Mac Attack has to win and root for the Dream Team to capture a title.

Dream Team (Norm):
"Rams win, Dream Team needs a win and some help. P.S.: Have you ever heard of a running back having 200 yards receiving."
