![]() In Week 14, the battle for the Championship loosened up a bit as the Mac Attack failed to take out the Dream Team. Some how the Bull Dogs scored 27 pts. but won (as they have all year) and kept pace with the Dream Team. The last Elite spot is still up in the air, with 8 teams still no more than a game out of the Elite. The Black Revenge has been eliminated as the best they can manage is 7 wins and this week either the M. Takers or Quiet Storm will score their 8th W (or they will bot tie and both move out of range). This week the 49ERS, PATRIOTS, STEELERS & CHIEFS play Saturday, so make sure you get your starters in before the kickoff of the first game. This week the BENGALS are off so don't start any of them. In other league news, I really haven't done much with the web site, except keep it updated, but you should still stop by. Point your favorite browser to http://www.50megs.com/users2/ksmalley. Getting your notes by E-Mail is cheaper and quicker. Ask those that do get them. Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week. This week we repeat the schedule for week 6. The M. Takers will try to repeat their week 6 win over the Quiet Storm and end their 1 week visit out of the Elite. The Storm finds itself once again above the Elite line. They are 0-4 when in the Elite, a trend they need to correct now. The Bulldogs will take on the Black Revenge in the "Lady Luck" bowl. The Dogs have face a league low 461 pts. this year. The Revenge have face a league high 802 pts. The Revenge Defense has given up over 70 pts. 6 times this year, I have my doubts about that happening this week. The Mac Attack will try to keep their title hopes alive with a repeat of their earlier win over the Jelly Beans. The Beans have to win to stay alive for a Elite spot and they need a lot of help. The Dream Team will try to avenge their early loss to the Hammer Heads and hold off the challengers to the Title for another week. The Heads low point total all but makes them 2 games out if the Elite and they also need a streak and some help to stay alive. The Black & Blue will try to repeat their earlier performance against the Sharks. After a dreadful start the Attack has won 3 in a row and are making a late season run, but is it a case of too little to late for the defending Champs. The Sharks can't seem to get back over that Elite line after spending most of their history there. With a 2 game winning streak they find themselves on the doorstep of their accustomed position above the Elite line. Spock was 4-5 this week making him 36-60 (60%) on the season and he retains top billing. Norm was 1-5 this week making him 31-60 (52%) on the season and his lines appear below: MT -3 QS (90) DT -7 HH (101) |
Only 1 game was final after Sunday. In two games, the winning team had a decent lead but the losing team had a lot of Monday players. In the final 2 games, the losing teams were down a little and had pretty consistent scorers going on Monday. The Bull Dogs, unbelievably, did it again. This week their victims were the M. Takers. The final score 27-21. Usually, if you score 27 pts. in this league you are almost guaranteed a "L". The Bull Dogs have found some way to circumvent the basic FF strategy that you score a good amount of points to win consistently. The Bull Dogs defense clamped down on the Takers George and company and kept pace with the Dream Team. Like the VIKINGS that pervade the Takers roster, George is starting to fade and now they are facing Must win situations. The Quiet Storm jumped back over the Elite line once again. Smitty used ex-partner "Toast" and the rest of the Revenge as a stepping stone. The Revenge was blown out once again as they surrendered yet another 70+ pt. performance and yet another helmet. Yo Revenge! D-UP!! (OK that's enough colloquialisms). The Black and Blue Attack and a slew of players held off the Hammer Heads, McCardell and Smith on Monday. Both teams had trouble scoring. In fact the Heads had Beuerlein on the bench and he outscore both starting lineups combined. In a game which was just beaten out for "GOW" honors, the Sharks and Stewart overcame a 6 pt. lead to the Beans. The Sharks moved a step closer back to the Elite. The Beans put up a big 55 and lost. They must be looking at the Bull Dogs game in disbelief. The "Game of the Week" goes to the contest between the Dream Team and Mac Attack. If you believe that the Bull Dogs luck can't hold up then this may well have been the Super Bowl as the winner here would have had the inside track to the title. The Dream Team built a big lead with former Attack member Eddie George on Thursday. The Attack countered with former Dream Teamer Herman Moore. Unfortunately for the Attack the play at 3rd WR was Jeffers nor Moore. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
