NORM'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis-Estimated by KJS

In Week 12, we had a tightening up of the standings. Right now the last place team is only 2 games out of a Elite position, and the Dream Team stumbled again allowing the Bull Dogs to enter into a virtual tie for first, despite being 1 of 2 teams that have not breached the 500 pt. barrier. This week the JAGUARS & STEELERS play Thursday night, so make sure you get your starters in before kickoff. Also, this week the BILLS are off so don't start any of them. One last thing, please let me know what we should do about Tiebreaks. Also let me know if anyone has a problem with the "stats" source and Free-Agent acquisition process. These were all issues in last week's notes.

In other league news, I will be installing a modified version of the main page so that people with older browsers can still get the news even though it will not scroll. Point your favorite browser (Netscape works better than MS-IE) to http://users2.50megs.com/ksmalley/ .Getting your notes by E-Mail is cheaper and quicker, I will never understand why there isn't more interest in it.

Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week.

This week we repeat the schedule for week 4. The Hammer Heads will try to avenge their week 4 loss to the M. Takers. The M. Takers will try to strengthen their tenuous grip on the last Elite Spot. The Mac Attack will try to abuse the Black Revenge and overcome last week's misstep and try to jump up in the increasingly interesting battle for the "Championship". The Revenge is in a "must win" situation. The Dream Team will try to re-establish their hold on 1st place against the Sharks. The Sharks need a win to get up in the mix for the final Elite Spot. The Quiet Storm and Jelly Beans are both 1 game out of the Elite. The loser of this game will be in a tough spot. The winner will be right in the Elite mix. The Bull Dogs will try to continue their incredible climb up the standings against the Defending Champion Black & Blue Attack. The Black & blue finds themselves in an unfamiliar place, as they are fighting for respect instead of jockeying for a better Elite spot.

Norm was 3-5 this week making him 29-50 (58%) and he regained top billing. Spock was 1-5 this week making him 29-50 (58%) and his locks appear below:

   MT  -1 HH (83)     QS   -2 JB (92)
   MA -12 BR (100)    BD -12 BB (86)
   DT -16  S (96)

No games were final after Sunday. In two games, the only players on Monday were in the winning team's lineup. In the 3 other games the winning teams had built up a fairly decent lead, but the losing team still had something left.

The Bull Dogs continued their "Magical Mystery Tour" up the standings with a season sweep of the "Mac Attack". The Bull Dogs now have the highest record in the league despite the 9th place point total. Turkey Day had some serious implications on this game as the Bull Dogs started a WR and ST and picked up 35 points. The Mac Attack burned a RB, WR and PK and came away empty. The BENGALS double-bubble closed up the gap early, but the Dogs still had to many bullets left in the chamber (including Rice on Monday). The Bulldogs scored over 50 pts. for only the 3rd time and still have managed to notch 9 wins so far this year. It is completely "AMAZING". Maybe there is a FF defense anyway.

The defending Champion Black & Blue Attack kept their slim Elite hopes alive by notching a 'W" against the Quiet Storm. The Storm ended their 3-week stay in the Elite as they lost their 3rd in a row. The Storm was 0-3 while in the Elite. Maybe they can plan their next attack on the Elite line so that they get back in the Elite exactly on Week 17. The Defending Champs need to a long winning streak to make a run for the Elite.

The M. Takers jumped back above the Elite Line with a strong performance against the now reeling Sharks. The Takers were led by an MVP performance out of Jeff George. The Sharks have now lost 5 in a row and have started their season ending collapse a little earlier this year.

The Hammer Heads carried a 10 pt. lead into Monday Night against the Black revenge and Bradford. Bradford came up short and the Hammer Heads find themselves just points out of a Elite Position. The "Death Valley" team is starting to call for heads to roll.

The "Game of the Week" goes to the contest between the Dream Team and the Jelly Beans. The Dream Team, Levens and Freeman could not overcome a 20 pt. lead against the Beans and the PACKERS. The Beans split the series with the Dream Team. The Dream Team's stranglehold one the 'Title' is appearing to weaken. The Dream Team was riding high on Kitna's coat tails, and he flopped this week. Meanwhile a Gannon start would have given the Dream Team double-digits in wins. The Beans still have a shot at the Elite being only 1 game back.
